Fans of Long Island melodic hardcore group Crime in Stereo were heartbroken last month, when the boys announced their split after eight years. Four albums and two EPs later, their departure was marked simply with the message ‘Crime In Stereo Is Dead (2002-2010)’ posted on their Twitter page. Reasons for the breakup weren’t given, but speculation has arisen that it may be linked to emergency oral surgery singer Kristian Hallbert had the month before.
Whatever the reason, last week CIS released their last ever video- ‘I Am Everything I Am Not’. The track was taken from their fourth album ‘I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone’, which was released earlier this year. The album serves as a mesmerising insight into the fragility and brutality of human emotion, and is easily one of the best albums I’ve heard this year. Goodbye Crime in Stereo, you’ll be sorely missed.
